PopCopy 2.0: Faster, more features

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

popcopy100pxThe clipboard expender, PopCopy, has been completely rewritten and released as version 2.0.

It is now fully compatible with Microsoft Office’s apps. The app’s rewritten code means that saves and loads more quickly and efficiently.

The Menubar drop-down menu now allows for the deletion of recent clips and offers previews of clipped images.

When activited, the app’s interface now shows three items:

popcopyinterface

The Preferences screen allows you to set the interface’s hotkey, turn the menubar display on or off and toggle automatic pasting:

PopCopy now also has an industrial-strength nag screen.

Personally, I prefer Jumpcut for greater simplicity, but PopCopy offers support for images which will appeal to some.

PopCopy is shareware (USD 14) and is available from the developer’s web site .popcopy, jumpcut, clipboard extender, helpful apps, productivity, clips

Jumpcut 0.6: Smarter shortcuts, handsome

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

jumpcut100pxSteve Cook has released an updated version of Jumpcut, his open source clipboard extender.

Version 0.6 is noticeably smarter about remembering your hotkey selection for activating the app and features a built-in auto-updater.

The app’s bezel has also been reworked. The transparency is now adjustable for greater readability:

The Preferences have been worked over too, offering new options for a “Sticky” bezel and for selecting clips from the menubar icon:

Jumpcut is freeware. You can read about it , get the latest update or the source code (currently still the previous version, 0.54) from Source Forge. clipboard extender, productivity, clippings, keyboard shortcuts

Jumpcut: Super slick clipboard extender

Friday, May 5th, 2006

jumpcut100pxSome time ago, matonmacs mentioned the utility Jumpcut in a comment on a post about the Cute Clips clipboard extender.

I’d forgotten about it, until I came across Ryan Irelan’s post about using Textpander and Jumpcut in web development.

Jumpcut is a nifty little menubar utility that keeps a history of your clipboard. Its Preferences allow you to specify how many past clippings it should remember and display, how often it should save the list and the keyboard hotkey.

Although you can access the clips from the menubar, pressing the hotkey brings up a bezel display:

You can cycle through the clips using the hotkeys and then drop in the one you want.

It can save you a lot of time in Mail.app and elsewhere.

All that’s missing is the option to make the selections “sticky” like you can in CuteClips.

Jumpcut is open-source and a universal binary. It is available from the developer’s web site .clipboard extender, helpful app, productivity, mail.app, apple mail, textpander
