Pukka 1.3: del.icio.us posting client gets even better

Monday, July 31st, 2006

pukka_iconPukka is a posting client for del.icio.us that can be activated quickly by a bookmarklet on your browser toolbar.

It automatically loads the URL and title of the active web page into its interface. All you have to do is tag it, type a description if you want and post it. Highlighted text on the page is added to the description field. Very quick. Very smart.

And it has just got smarter. Version 1.3 released over the weekend adds support for private bookmarking through a new option in the app’s preferences pane:

pukka_prefs

Holding down the option key when posting now prevents the app from resetting.

The new version also adds full AppleScript support.

See it in action in a screencast. Pukka is shareware (USD 5) and available from codesorcery’s web site .

Hacking Yojimbo bookmarklets for flags

Friday, June 16th, 2006

screenshot12Yojimbo’s new boomarklets for archiving and bookmarking web pages are great. But you will have noticed that they don’t flag new items for your attention. A solution is not far away.

As Jim heIpfully pointed out in the comments to an earlier post on Yojimbo 1.2, you can add flags to new items by gently hacking the code of the javascript.

All you need to do is add &flagged=YES to the script’s parameter list:

  1. Open the bookmarks manager in your browser.
  2. Find the bookmarklets that came with Yojimbo 1.2, probably in your bookmarks bar or toolbar folder.
  3. In Safari, click once on the address field to select it and carefully type in the extra code.

I’ve highlighted in the following screenshots what works for me, (i) for the archive script:

And (ii) for the bookmark script:

Add a “Gmail this” bookmarklet to your web browser

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

GmailThis browser bookmarklet, “Gmail This“, creates a new Gmail message containing the URL of the web page you are viewing.

Just drag it to your Bookmarks Bar (Safari/Camino) or Command-click on it and select “Bookmark this link…” (Firefox).

That’s it.

BREAKING NEWS: Hawk Wings bought by TUAW

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

TUAWNot really. But I was surprised to find Hawk Wings assimilated to the TUAW borg in this post on a Dutch blog.

My Dutch is not very good, but my babelfish bookmarklet (get it – and others – for Safari from Jesse’s BookMarklet Site) tells me:

Ah, pleasing update of my most used tooltjes, MailTags. It only works in Apple|Mail, but it works thus perfectly :-)

TUAW have the scoop:

MailTags to get new features: A new version or MailTags is in the pipe-line.

It will deliver an excellent and very useful improvement….
