WideMail 0.1.0: Real Widescreen Preview Column
Dane Harnett has released a new and improved version of his wide-screen plugin for Leopard Mail.
WideMail 0.1.0 has been ported to Objective C (with help from Scott “MailTags” Morrison) and is smaller and leaner.
But the big feature of this release is the new integrated preview column, which displays the sender, subject and date of the email much more efficiently:

Instructions on enabling this special column can be found in the readme and on Dane’s web site.
WideMail is donation-ware (via PayPal) and is available from Dane’s web site

I love the center column as showcased above. Is there any way to do that in Thunderbird?

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I am not highly motivated to find out. I’ve not heard of any hack to do it.

I like the idea of this plugin, but I’m finding I have to enable the special new column (and remove extraneous columns) for every single mailbox I have. That’s a lot. Is there a short way to set the default view for all mailboxes?

The only problem is the formatting is off slightly, so tried to go back to single column view with separated from and subject views. No I have no more subject column!!! Any ideas on how to get this back?

This happened to me too. You need to reinstall the plugin and make sure that the subject column is selected before you uninstall it. Then it should be there in Mail after the plugin is removed.
