More apologies for the longest non-holiday break in the history of Hawk Wings.
I’m having a bugger of a time getting on top of my new job.

And now, there’s an additional complication. While I was distracted and not paying attention, someone made me Stewart Lecturer in Theology
in the College’s Theological School
as well.
So now I need to dress better, look holy and smart at the same time, teach Greek with verve and wit, and spend more time with students, supervising masters theses and mentoring.
I’ve resigned from some of my (well-paid, enjoyable but draining) freelancing work, so that I can keep Hawk Wings running.
Fingers crossed.

Welcome back, Tim, you’ve been missed :-)
You are too kind ;-)
Thanks!
Congratulations on the appointment!
Sounds like you will be merging tow callings: hawk wings and theology! All the best. Will you be posting the odd Mail.app tip in Greek…. ancient Greek to be sure!
Congratulations on the job! I admire anyone who can teach the Bible from the Greek.
Awesome!! And you made the right choice about keeping up Hawk Wings!! Who needs all that well-paid freelance work anyway – he said, selfishly.
Tim – you were definitely missed! Congrats on being named a Stewart Lecturer. No wonder you’re tapped out. Let me know if I can help in any way.
BTW – How does one LOOK holy?
I’ll say – God Bless!
Congrats…
(Thanks for sticking with HWs)
Thanks for the kind words.
Jane — Several bishops offer advanced masterclasses in looking holy. It’s part of my professional development :)
WOW… I am a graduate of MCD. I have been an avid reading of this blog since I switched to the mac 12 months ago or so. I never knew you were located so close!
Tim, many congratulations on your new post – and thank you (how many times can I say that without looking stupid) for keeping HW going. It’s essential reading for us Mail users.
Although I’m not a Christian (I’m a Baha’i), I work with a lot of people in the Church of England (clergy and lay) on various multi-faith projects of one kind or another. My considered judgment is that the Bishop of London (Rt Revd Richard Chartres) is the gold standard in looking holy (and, quite possibly, in being holy). And he has a wonderful voice – it sounds tremendous in St Paul’s Cathedral.
Barney, I agree with you. I spent six years in London as the Vicar of Battersea. The Bishop of London visted once or twice. He does have a most commanding presence.
Great news and congratualtions. Not sure if you noticed but Mark Jones from Fin Review is making the leap to theological study

Including me, that’s three tech journos that are making the leap to theological study.
God bless you and the work you’ll be doing.

Anthony, thanks for the link. I didn’t know that. This all bodes well for a Church whose IT arrangements often run by the power of prayer alone! :)
