While I was busy…
I am still working out how to manage my new Real Life job better so that Hawk Wings gets more of my time.
Most recently, while I was busy…
- KIT
(”Keep It Together”), a nice personal information manager that almost gives Yojimbo a run for its money, was substantially updated. It now boasts a slicker interface, searchable tags, five star rating (Ã la iTunes) and more — see the full changelog
for all the improvements. - OMIC
got an update too. This utility which unpacks the dreaded winmail.dat files Outlook users sometimes send (see earlier Hawk Wings review) now has support for installation over Apple Remote Desktop and for RTF text, and is packaged in a smarter installer. - MailRecent 1.0.3
now adds any moves or copies using a MailRecent menu to the “Move to … Again” (or “Copy to … Again”) menu items in the Message menu and the corresponding contextual menu. This means that the last “recent” move or copy can be repeated via that menu item or the built-in Mail keyboard shortcut Option-Command-T.

Yeah I have been busting for coloured folders in Mail.app for ages. It really makes no sense because in Calendar.app you can great groups and assign a colour (clients, personal etc) but the same functionality has not been replicated in Mail.app. In fact, it’s also missing in Address Book.

On a very off-topic comment, I was wondering if you knew anything about the mail client ‘Balzac’ which I stumbled across while looking at Growl-compatible apps. Not that I’d switch from Mail.app, but I was just curious. Thanks!

I try KIT and was very shocked with how it search… It can’t search russian, and even english sometimes not found. I download and install it. Added 2 new notes and one webarchive and… All I can find with buildin feature is demo notes about KIT itself… I try Spotlight to see maybe new note wasn’t indexed (I’m sure KIT uses Spotlight…) and Spotlight find those notes but not KIT. Hmm… Yojimbo is better (though more expensive) and for now I choose between Yojimbo and Journler which is free/donationware btw.

I’ve been using OMIC and the recent version seems to have problems for me. I get the following error in my console and then it hangs. This happens when I’m retrieving email from gmail using POP and hangs the session and doesn’t let me exit or time out. Have you encountered this?
