I just downloaded the latest version of Palm Desktop for Mac via VersionTracker to a Mac that had never seen a Palm device before and I was able to both install and run Palm Desktop without ever being asked for a serial number. This mirrors previous experiences I've had -- never been asked for that serial number. Maybe you're looking in the wrong place on the Palm site? Chris Ed, I’m afraid you’re mistaken.
