Jesus Saves t-shirts
Normally I don’t post this kind of thing, but I couldn’t resist mentioning this t-shirt which brings my day job (Anglican priest and theology lecturer) together with my blog.
MacMerc has designed a t-shirt which combines the time-saving importance of keyboard shortcuts with other important saving things.
Stylish and witty, it will obviously appeal most to people who can be a little bit light-hearted about their faith. Or, conceivably, who just like clever t-shirts. And are not much troubled by the finer points of punctuation.
And it offers Anglicans/Episcopalians a way to witness without actually mentioning the J word. Can clothing get any better?

The funny thing is that I first read the shirt as “Jesus Command’s”.

Tim, do Anglicans/Epsicopalians have a problem mentioning the J word when witnessing? ;-)
I’m certainly wearing mine to church the next Sunday after I receive it. I know the pastors will get a real kick out of it.

My friend passed this article on to me claiming, “Only Mac Daddies can truly appreciate this.” While I’m still a Windoze user, I would love to own a Mac and can appreciate (even if not fully) the cleverness of this t-shirt.
However, I’m a little confused as to your apprehension regarding the use of the “J” word. After all, in Mark 8:38, Jesus says, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Guys, it’s just a joke, a little dig at the tendency towards reticence about this matter in Anglican/Episcopalian culture.

Hence my wink emoticon. I don’t believe that reticence is limited to Anglicans/Episcopalians.

Cool, but as a fan of Lynne Truss, I have to ask: what is that apostrophe doing there?
(Okay, maybe the usual rules of syntax/grammar don’t apply when the command symbol is part of the word…)

In my language the apostrophe should be replaced with a hyphen to be valid. But in my book, the statement is false to begin with.
And as an atheist, I’m all for the “no religion” sign at the door..

@Tim — Yes, I had the same instinctive feeling, but then the excellence of whole idea overcame me, rather like the Spirit overwhelms the Law.
I think it is part of the same debate - as far as I know, unresolved - over CDs or CD’s, V8s or V8’s, WMDs or WMD’s. Dunno.
