The Yahoo! SMTP server is actually open to the world. You can’t receive emails to your desktop very easily (see http://www.scue.co.uk/widgets/mailchecker/ for an example of how people manage to get around that!) but you can send emails from their servers.

I cannot send email from my Yahoo address from my desktop. Checked with Yahoo and they said this is available only for Premium account users. This Widget will not allow you to get around that.
