Quickly saving attachments in Mail.app
A poster on macOSXHints has pointed out
a super-quick way to save attachments in a Mail.app message.
As everyone knows, you can save attachments by dragging them from the message window to the Desktop or by using the “Save” button at the top of the message.
But there is a faster, smarter way, especially for messages with multiple attachments.
All you need to do is drag the actual paper clip icon to the Desktop:

This saves out all the attachments in one hit.
Another triumph for users in the face of Apple Mail’s many under-documented features.
[Thanks, Leonardo]

That is so cool.

Very cool. Little bug though: if you drag it to the desktop, all the files will display at the same coordinates, completely overlapping each other.

Doesn’t happen for me. I wonder what the settings are for your Desktop in View > Show View Options. Perhaps a tweak there would stop them stacking up.

True, if “snap to grid” is picked, the items land on the same spot and then oh-so-gracefully drift apart and back onto the grid. I don’t really like snap to grid though, so there you go. Not a huge issue.
