JABMenu: Menubar Address Book
A week ago I posted about EntourageABMenu, a utility that gives you access to your Entourage contacts in the Menubar.
Today, the developer has released JABMenu 1.0, the Address Book version of the same utility.
Like EntourageABMenu, JABMenu adds an icon to your Menubar contains a drop-down menu with all your Address Book contacts arranged alphabetically, by groups and by companies. It also maintains a “Recent Used” list:

Clicking on the information for each contact, launches an action.
By default, clicking the email address launches a new message to that person, clicking an addresss displays it large type and clicking a phone number launches an applescript which connects with “Jon’s Phone Tools”, another of the developer’s apps, to initiate the dialling.
All these options — among others — can be set in JABMenu’s preferences:

For example, clicking on a postal address can be set to display it in large type (default), copy it to the clipboard, speak it or show it in Google Maps.
A hotkey opens a quick search dialog for quickly locating the contact you want.
iAddressX does exactly the same thing, although it lacks the quick search option and the integration with Jon’s Phone Tools.
JABMenu is shareware. The demo is limited to 30 minute sessions, but a USD 10 registration fee unlocks it. You can get JABMenu from the developer’s web site

Tags: Address Book, contacts, dialling, menubar, ProductivityAs you might have noticed (including in the screenshot you posted on your site), there was a bug whereby the groups submenu showed companies and vice versa. This has been corrected in v1.0.1 (which won’t be detected by the new version check in v1.0 — another bug fixed). You can re-download the disk image for the latest version.
If the file is cached in your browser, you may need to option click on the download on the main product page to force a fresh download.
