Live Blogging TV takes a dim view
of the new lozenge-shaped buttons in Tiger Mail.
The proposed method for disposing of the buttons is complicated and unique.
Personally, I would use Mail Stamps
— which works a treat with Mail 2.0.7 and is much more cow- and piranha-friendly.

Am I really the only one who likes the lozenges?
I like those icons I even use them for adium:

SkylarP: No, Axel likes them too. There are two of you ;-)
I don’t like the lozenges or the old stamps. I liked the look that Cage Fighter offered: the new, simpler icons minus the lozenge underneath. Very easy on the eyes, but unfortunately Mail 2.0.7 breaks Cage Fighter. Anybody have an alternative?
To answer my own question, after some digging, I figured out how to restore that Cage Fighter look — Mail 2.0 icons without lozenges:
1. Quit Mail.app
2. Right-click Mail.app in the Finder and choose “Show Package Contents”
3. Navigate to Contents/Resources/
4. Create a new folder called “Lozenge Images” (or whatever name you want)
5. Find all the images in the Resources folder that begin with “TB_Segment” or “TB_Single” and drag them to the “Lozenge Images” folder
6. Open Mail.app again — the lozenges should be gone!
To restore the default settings, just drag the images back out of the “Lozenge Images” folder to their original directory.
Hope this helps somebody out.
thanks for this. icons are actually visible now. I feel much better now.
