MailMergeApp: Mail merges in Mail.app
MailMergeApp is an AppleScript Studio application that allows you to use Mail.app and Address Book to create “merged mailings”.
It works with Mail.app but plugins are available to make it work with Entourage, Mailsmith and Eudora as well.
The developer suggests that it is “ideal for developers who want to send customized mailings but don’t need the full spam friendly power of the expensive merge programs that are available.”
See some screenshots of the app’s editor and the final result after the jump.
The app’s composition window is simple and functional:

It offers options for selecting Address Book groups from a drop-down menu and another menu to insert fields automatically.
When the master email is finished and a group is selected, it creates a message for each group member, storing them in the Outbox. If the the finished product is what you expect:

Send them off. All done.
Make sure that Mail is off-line first, so that you have a chance to review the emails before sending. I didn’t, and spammed my whole family with this bogus test message. That can undermine your status as a sophisticated tech-guru and is best avoided.
MailMergeApp is shareware (USD 10) although a fully-featured demo that can send up to 10 emails is also available. Get it from the developer’s web site
