Microsoft: Spam problem is solved
You will remember that a few years ago
That’s now. And
Ryan Hamlin, the General Manager of Microsoft’s Anti-spam Division argues:
“If you are a consumer that’s taking advantage of the technologies that exist … then the spam problem for you is solved. Bill didn’t say that there would be no spam. But he said the problem would be solved, and I think that is what we actually have accomplished.”
The premiss here is that what you don’t see, doesn’t exist.
Server-side and client spam
Oh, happy day!

HA! We were even debating in office the other day to use Postini, or install Exim with Spam Assassin to help, as we still have problems with some of our desktop clients.
Nice spin on that comment, Ryan Hamlin, but the computer industry is a bit more educated than the general public; snow balling will work for politicians, but not Microsoft. Now you just look like idiots running from a problem you can’t solve.

Besides, I have to say it, Hotmail is a good part of the problem. I block an unimaginable amount of Hotmail spam — they should look to working the kinks out of their own system before they tackle the rest of the world.
