It seems like a nice idea, but I think it would really add a lot of value if they allowed it to support IMAP directly. It can’t be THAT hard to have it connect to a remote IMAP server and download messages. That way I don’t have to first go into Apple Mail and download my mail.
Don’t get me wrong — I like Apple Mail. I just don’t like it enough to use it. And regardless, it would be really beneficial to make this app more general (though it does mean downloading your mail twice…).
(and yes, I realize I can export my mail from my mail application of choice; however, I don’t want to go through yet ANOTHER step. It’s bad enough that I have two applications to handle all my mail…)
(plus, supporting IMAP directly helps keep them honest. They say that it supports all IMAP and POP3 mailboxes, and while this is true, saying it is like saying that a USB cable was designed for Microsoft Windows)
(side note: While the app may have a Universal Binary, much of the backend is implemented in Perl scripts, so most of the speed of the application depends upon the Perl installed on your system)
