SiteAdvisor, an MIT startup company, has trawled a million web sites and downloaded over 140,000 freebies, searching for the worst, most intrusive adware.

A SiteAdvisor blog entry lists the top five download disasters and reveals the extensive adware packages bundled with them.

Needless to say, they are all Windows-based. After reading about these nasties, you can either warn your Windows-using friends or just enjoy that smug Mac user feeling.
