I actually use Mail.app to get my gmail -- it's easier to use a single client! And I always have the option of the gmail web interface if I'm travelling.

You'll get no arguments from me on this score.

But I blogged it because a lot of people do feel that Gmail is a simplifying (and unifying) force in their lives. I have otherwise very sensible friends who are ga-ga about Gmail.

I can't agree that running Webmail makes anything ?¢‚Ǩ?ìsimpler.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù Simplicity doesn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t seem to me to have anything to do with the number of applications you have open.

Of course, I have an IMAP server, so synchronizing mail messages isn't an issue for me. Having access to the same mail everywhere definitely makes life simpler. ?¢‚Ǩ?ìNumber of apps open,?¢‚Ǩ¬ù however, seems like a lousy metric of simplicity.
