Roundcube: Mail.app-like webmail
Written in PHP and requiring a MySQL database, it is still in Alpa but already offers a rich set of features including multilingual capabilities, full support for MIME and HTML messages, attachments, multiple sender identities, an address book with “find-as-you-type” address book integration, built-in caching for fast mailbox access and external SMTP server support.
And it looks good. It is fully skinnable through XHTML and CSS 2, but there are no prizes for guessing which mail client is the inspiration behind its default skin:

I really really like the layout of this email client, only problem is i dont have email stuff set up on my server, I have just begun attempting to doso with sendmail and imap but such things are poorly documented and ive just been thrown in at the deep end just so i can test this thing…

If you have mail setup on another server, no bother — just put in the mail.yourserver.com and smtp.yourserver.com values in the main editing files. You can house this on your local server, and it connects like a mail client.

I will note, although it looks like mac mail, it’s using thunderbird icons:)
