LowEndMac: Switching to Apple Mail
The drought of bloggable stuff about
Ed Eubanks who writes the “Efficient Mac User” column at LowEndMac has written a long piece on his experience
He details some of his favourite plug-ins, the features about Apple Mail that he finds appealing, and the features he wishes Mail.app has, but doesn’t.
An excellent read.

Thanks for the mention– I’m glad you liked the article.
I found your blog because I was searching for something else to add into Mail– someone else who read the article e-mailed for help finding a particular function (requesting return receipts). Great site– and a lot of great information.
You don’t happen to know where a user might go to get a “Return Receipts” function, do you? Thanks again.

Hi Ed. Thanks for writing the article. I noticed just before that you got a plug in Germany too – http://www.mactechnews.de/index.php?id=11876
Return Receipts are a sore point. In Panther you could get them using MailPriority, a plugin which the developer has said he won’t be updating for Tiger. If your friend is using Panther still, she or he is in luck.
The only way I know of doing this in Mail 2.0 is an “all-or-nothing” hack posted on macOSXHints.
It looks like more trouble than it is worth to me, but your friend might disagree.
