MailPulse is a widget for Konfabulator that checks Mail.app for unread email every specified number of seconds.

When you have unread mail, your Griffin PowerMate will pulse depending on how many unread emails are in your inbox(s) until all new mail has been read. Then the LED will return to its default glow.

The developer’s notes helpfully add, “NOTE: If you don’t have a Griffin PowerMate, you won’t notice anything happening.” If you don’t have Konfabulator installed, you probably won’t notice anything either.
