Re-sending HTML messages in Apple Mail

As everyone knows, forwarding an HTML message in Apple Mail breaks the code and leaves you with a mess.

What is less well-known is that redirecting an HTML message retains the code and leaves you with something much more presentable, preserving the original’s layout and hyperlinks.

You could see the difference more clearly if I had one of those fancy HTML iTunes emails in my archive to use as an example. Even so these screenshots give you a good idea of the benefits of redirecting HTML emails if you have to or want to.

Redirecting is easy. Just select Redirect from the Message menu or hit Shift-Command-E.

The downside here is that the email will appear in the recipient’s Message List as coming from the original sender, although the first header in the Preview Pane clearly says, “Resent-From: [Your name]“.
