Seven more keyboard shortcuts for Apple Mail

A while ago I blogged my list of ten most useful keyboard shortcuts that I use a lot and that save me lots of time.

Here are seven more “advanced” keyboard shortcuts that speed up the actual writing and editing process in Mail.app (and in any Cocoa-based app like ecto or Mellel or StickyBrain or BBEdit, to mention just a few favourites).

You’ll find them listed, some with a little mnemonic to jog the memory, after the jump.

Control-A. Moves your cursor (or insertion point) to the start of the paragraph. [Think: A = Alpha = the beginning].

Control-E. Moves the cursor to the end of the paragraph. [Think: E = the end].

Control-D. Deletes the letter to the right of the cursor. Same as Function-Delete on my PowerBook.

Control-K. Deletes everything from the cursor to the end of the line. {Think: K = Kill!].

Control-T. Moves the cursor one letter to the right and drags the letter to its left with it, swapping the letters around. Ideal for correcting “ot” to “to” — my most frequent typing error. [Think: T = transpose].

Option-Delete. Deletes the entire word to the left of the cursor.

And, of course, if your editing is like mine, there’s Command-Z, a shortcut which undoes what you just did!
