Clean out old IMAP caches to regain some space
A post on macOSXHints suggests a way to recover some space in your Mail folder if (i) you use IMAP for your mail and (ii) you have changed the “IMAP Path Prefix” recently.
It involves deleting the caches in the account, some of which may no longer be used by Mail.app, and allowing it to rebuild them. Full details on macOSXHints.
