AOL Service Assistant: Apple Mail with AOL
The Service Assistant is a utility that allows you to use Apple’s Mail.app, Address Book, iChat and Safari with an AOL account, instead of relying on AOL’s own software.
If you have used AOL’s software for email, the Service Assistant lets you import those messages into Apple Mail from your Personal Filing Cabinet. You can then use Apple Mail to send and receive your AOL emails. Likewise, you can bring your AOL Address Book contacts over into Apple’s Address Book.
It is freeware, works with 10.2 and higher, and is available from AOL’s Macintosh Downloads Page.

Could you also include a link to where one could learn more about it? Not for me personally, I’m sure I can find it, but just for the sake of convenience.
Thank you anyway. Making this page and your plug-ins available has made my life noticeably easier.

I think that the best place to learn more about it is in the readme and help files included in the disk image.

I downloaded the Service assistant. It creates the aol account in mail.app fine, but it crashes when trying to import the filing cabinet. I read a similar experience from someone else online. Any suggestions?

This is what I’ve been looking for for a long time. Not being a particularly computer oriented person, I had no idea how I could ever get my aol stuff into Mail. I downloaded this app and installed it (couldn’t have been easier) and I couldn’t believe my eyes. This is like a Christmas present!
Thanks so much, whoever created this little gem.

I too thought that this program was the answer to my wishes. It worked for setting up my email and i chat, it also imported the read mail and new mail that was on the Aol service.
However it did not bring in my address book or Favorite places. I have yet to find anything on the net or on Aol to help me with this problem. Aol Help does not even know the program exists.
Anyone know how to get help??

YES!!!!!! No one knows. Apple. Apple resellers. I was down to begging at the genius bar IF they might help me and then while waiting I googled and up came your option. In about two minutes, it was downloaded,set-up and all imported.
THANK YOU THANK YOU. However, FYI your site does not come up when you google “How can I use my AOL account with Mac Mail?’ Only “How can I use AOL and MAC MAIL”? AOL does not show anything.
So after being told no, no, no with greate geek authority I have to say again YE-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-S!
