iSay: Voice messages via Apple Mail
iSay records spoken messages which it then packages up as attachments to an email. It is not really a plug-in. It’s a stand-alone app, but it plays so beautifully with Apple Mail, that it is worth a mention.
Set-up is a breeze. I simply copied it to my Applications folder and opened it. The preference pane allows you to integrate it with iCal, to choose a default encoding for the messages (WAV, MPEG-4, ulaw, or 3GPP) and to set hotkeys. It features a clean, easy to use interface:

After you finish recording your message, one further click brings you to an email which it launches with the recording attached.
One note of warning. It uses a lot of bandwidth. An eleven-second note of undying love to my wife appeared as a 307 KB attachment (which she could play without any problems on her Wintel laptop).
It is shareware. A licence costs USD 20. That’s more expensive than MailVoiceClip, but you get more features for your money. You can download the app from the developer’s website.
