Pictures, PDFs and Mail: More Automator Goodness

automatorAutomator workflows increase your ability to work quickly with files, automating repetitive or mindless tasks. On this site, we are interested in ones that help with Apple Mail. Here are three:

1. Mail Pictures. This workflow allows you to convert an image or images selected in Finder into jpegs, resizes them to the user-input pixel dimensions and then attaches them to a new Mail message. It’s especially useful for people who don’t use iPhoto, or have images stored elsewhere.

Download and install in your ~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder folder.

2. Save PDF and Mail is a print service that will save a document as a PDF in a location you can specify and then attach it to a new message. This is especially useful if, like me, you prefer Pages or Mellel to Word, but need to share things with less enlightened people at work via email.

3. Mail PDF does the same thing as 2. above, but without saving it first.

Download these two and install them in your ~/Library/PDF Services folder. Then select the one you need by clicking on the PDF button in the Print dialogue box of the app you are working in.?¢‚Ǩ¬®
